Shrek

In this assignment you are required to design a poster to promote the annual CEC muscial. The best designed poster will actually be used in the community to promote the musical. It is an opportunity to utilize your knowledge of the elements and principles of design, color and the design process. While some class time will be provided for you to work on this assignment, you will be expected to complete the majority of the planning at home. This is a major assignment that will have a significant impact on your course mark. Plan to begin the assignment immediately. This assignment must be done individually.

ASSIGNMENT
  • Use the Internet to research the musical Shrek.
  • You can find a good story synopsis here
  • Use thumbnail sketches to record as many ideas as you can.
  • Try to apply what you have learned about color, as well as the elements and principles of design.
  • Select your best idea and complete a rough sketch of the design using a full sheet of 8 1/2" X 10" paper. Add color.
  • Edit the design as required.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator to create the poster, be sure to be in CKMY mode.
  • The poster should be 13" wide by 19 " high.
